My name is Nancy Stoner and I'm 48 years old. I actually had two procedures done. I had my eyes done and I also had liquid lipo performed.
I had my eyes done because bags and dark circles was hereditary in my family, but in 2010, I had an extremely bad year. My house burned down and my mother got cancer. That aged me 10 years that year. So I started pursuing. I started to Dr. Fernau and he was so kind and he was so supportive and understanding that I decided that that was something that I really needed to do for myself, because I could barely look in the mirror at the time.
I would describe myself as more curvy than not, and there are certain areas that always bothered me. And upon discussing it with Dr. Fernau, he did say it was a life-changing. And I could say I definitely see a difference in my body, and that's important. As you get older, everything's important.
I'd seen articles on him and I was impressed by his skill and his kindness, and then after having many consultations with him, I trusted him. He was always very honest with me. He was always very fair with me. I loved his staff. They were always very kind and informative. They just always worked with me and I felt very comfortable, and that's why I chose them.
I see myself as the person I was prior to the year that had aged me. I actually didn't let my friends and family know. It was something that I had done for myself. The response was that when I did resurface, which was a very short time later, because the recovery was very, very small downtime, everyone just really felt like I looked rested, and they just kept saying you look so good.
My advice for others would be if you are considering doing something to improve yourself, do it for you, because you'll always be happy. It's something that you feel inside that makes you more confident and it shows on the outside.
On the day of my surgery, I was dropped off. I was greeted by the staff as they were preparing for Dr. Fernau. They were very kind, very supportive, and very sympathetic because I was extremely nervous and it just went beautifully. I've actually done that twice here, and both times have just been a positive calming experience. And afterwards, I was picked up by a friend. No one in my family knew.
That day of the surgery, you're groggy, but very excited to see what the outcome will be in a couple weeks. The night after I had my eyes done, I can honestly say I didn't have pain. It was not a painful procedure at all. There was bruising and I still had stitches, but very minimal. I was actually up and around and within, I would say, by the time I had gotten my stitches out a week later, you couldn't even tell I had anything done.
I would 100% recommend Dr. Fernau. His skill, his kindness, and the skill of his staff and their kindness is hands down the most valuable experience you're going to have. If you're going to improve your appearance, you should go with someone whose heart and skills are both equally as supportive.
I think sometimes people say that they would never get plastic surgery because they believe it's natural, but the person you are inside is what is natural, and we always do things to improve our appearance, and sometimes we can change things that we're not happy with. And there's nothing wrong with that. That's a strength that you have, that you're confident enough to be who you want to be and take whatever lengths you need to take to do that.
