I've had many surgeries performed by Doctor Fernau. My first one was laser resurfacing. I had really deep acne scars. I started getting acne, actually, around 24, so it was adult acne. And it left a lot of scar. So that was my first procedure. And it was very successful.
And then his aesthetician, Cindy, she maintained my acne, got it under control, so that way I wouldn't ever scar again. She did an amazing job. I've not had any problems since. So that was my first procedure that got me hooked.
After that I had a rhinoplasty. I had several fractures over years. I was really unhappy with the hump from the fracture, and he fixed that. I loved it so much that my mom and my brother had theirs done too.
Then after that I had a baby, so a lot changed, my body shape, so I had a tummy tuck and liposuction and a breast augmentation. He gave me a lot of confidence that I was lacking for having a baby.
I chose Doctor Fernau to perform my procedure because he was board certified and I've heard lots of good things about him. He's very meticulous, and I wanted someone that I could feel comfortable with.
The surgeries changed my life because it gives me the confidence that I didn't have before. I'm able to wear bathing suits that I couldn't wear in the past, and to feel better about myself.
I think family and friends, you get a little bit of both. There's ones that'll support you and ones that try to talk you out of it. But there's always a good support system no matter what. So you just deal what's best for you.
The best advice that I would give someone that's thinking about plastic surgery would be to definitely have it done if something bothers you. It'll make you feel better about yourself. It'll make you happier for others around you. To not listen to the gloom-and-doom that is around you that trying to talk you out of it. Just do it if it makes you feel good about yourself.
The day of my surgery, it was much more comfortable than I expected. The atmosphere's very homey and warm. The people who work here are friendly, make you feel like family. So it wasn't scary. If anything, I would really, really recommend having it done at Doctor Fernau's facility versus a sterile hospital. I'd say it was a good experience. I felt safe and calm.
My recovery was pretty easy. Doctor Fernau made me very comfortable the first night with nerve blocks so I never really felt pain the first night. And then the next day I had medication that took care of any discomfort I had, so it was a pretty easy process. He made sure that all my needs were taken care of, pain-wise.
I would recommend Doctor Fernau to my friends and family. And I have. Almost all of my family have had something done by him. My husband has and a lot of my friends. They've all been satisfied and they recommend their friends and family.
If I had to give advice to anyone watching that this would be the right place for you. He listens to your needs. He comes up with a good plan that fits your personality, your needs and wants. And you'll be happier than you ever were.
