I had decided for my birthday that I was going to gift myself some Botox! After doing as millennials do (i.e. going to Google and Reddit to research and find recommendations), I chose Dr. Fernau's office. I was not looking for the cheapest or closest option -- I wanted the best. I liked the idea of a facial plastic surgeon taking care of my Botox -- I didn't think I would be pressured to do more than I was comfortable, and I wanted natural results. From inquiry to scheduling to the actual appointment, everything was easy and the staff is so kind! Sheila performed my procedure, and she walked me through what to expect before, during, and after the procedure. I called Dr Fernau’s office for an emergency implant replacement after an unfortunate mammogram incident . My prior Dr from 21 years ago retired and Dr Fernau’s office immediately scheduled me right in. By the following Monday I was scheduled for surgery and could not be happier with the results. They replaced both implants and a fat transfer which now allows me to zip up those old jeans. An extra bonus! The nurses and staff are wonderful and they make you feel comfortable. I am one month post-op and I have truly never been happier. My septorhinoplasty experience was so much easier than I could have ever imagined. I came to him in a very desperate situation as I had experienced complications with a burn and subsequent problems with cortisone after a scar revision from a different doctor. I was looking for a doctor who was well versed in fat grafting. He ended up suggesting a less invasive route using laser procedures and filler. I have had laser procedures in the past; however, he REALLY knows what he is doing! My scar is BARELY noticeable now (and it only gets better each time). I went to Dr. Fernau for a septoplasty/ rhinoplasty exactly three weeks ago today. I cannot recommend him and his team enough! The whole process from beginning at the consultation to the latest check up has been a great experience. The surgery was painless and recovery was quick! I had no bruising and minimal swelling for just a few days. I also had no nausea after the anesthesia as I previously have had and I credit this to the preop care that Dr. Fernau provides. Hey y’all! Just wanted to let y’all know how my experience was. I had the mastopexy producer done and lipo under my arms. My whole life Iv had big bulging fat under my arms and could never wear tank tops and such. Dr Fernau fixed my biggest insecurity and for that I’m forever thankful for.Dr Fernau and his team was absolutely amazing! I had the best experience ever. I went in nervous and scared that it would hurt or I would be botched lol but nope. The pain was very moderate and I was up and moving with no problems the next day. My nose has bothered me since I was a young girl . Finally in my 20’s Dr Fernau did a rhinoplasty & septoplasty . It was the greatest feeling in the world to look in the mirror and not hate my nose. I loved it & my confidence was so much better. Later in my 40’s my daughter accidentally broke my nose and ruined my result. I was so upset because now I no longer liked getting my pictures taken and no longer felt confident. I tried just dealing with it since I was older but inside it really bothered me. Dr. Fernau is truly the best plastic surgeon and doctor I know. I recently got a septorhinoplasty by him and am amazed by his work. Let me start by saying I have never had any kind of surgery in my life. From the first time I walked into the office, and throughout the procedure, and now post op, I have felt very comfortable and at ease. After 2 back surgeries and 7 years for not being able to walk properly or stand up straight I had finally gotten to a place of health where my mobility was normal. My girlfriends loved the work so much a few have set up consultations for other surgeries Dr Fernau offers, and one has set up a consultation for corrective work on her breast implants. I plan on going back in the future for a few more enhancements. I have been treating with Dr. Fernau since 2017. I had a botched deviated septum surgery by a different doctor in 2007 which left me with a nose that was twisting and collapsing. I did a lot of research and saw multiple doctors for consultation before choosing Dr. Fernau. He treated me the way you would take care of a member of your own family. He was so kind, caring and reassuring about what needed to be done. He is very accomplished and knowledgeable. Dr. Fernau had to rebuild my nose from scratch. I have had 4 surgeries and now I’m undergoing PRP to thicken the skin on my nose. Dr. Fernau told me that he wouldn’t stop until my nose was perfect. He has continued to keep his word. I am a complicated case and have had a few setbacks along the way. Other doctors would have abandoned me or never even attempted to help me, but not Dr. Fernau. Today will be my first appointment since the COVID restrictions were lifted. I’m looking forward to getting back on track and I know that I have a doctor that will see this through to completion. Dr. Fernau most recently performed a septoplasty/rhinoplasty for me. I am so thrilled with the final result! My nose still looks like "me", but it is much more smooth and has a contoured look now, not to mention I can actually breathe now, too (thanks to the septoplasty). His work is absolute perfection! The surgery was smooth and my recovery was pain-free. I didn't even have to take any pain meds. This man is clearly a miracle worker! He is meticulous in his craft and strives for perfection. I had a breast augmentation with sub-fascial placement on 4/1/2021, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my results! My recovery time was quick and I was able to manage my recovery with over the counter pain medication only and was back to work in one week! After a lot of research I decided I wanted a drainless tummy tuck. The first time I met with Dr. Fernau I knew that I wanted him to be my surgeon. He’s truly caring, listens and is easy to talk to. His practice uses the best and newest technology, and he always puts patient safety first. He ended up doing my tummy tuck and some lipo. I have been treating with Dr. Fernau since 2017. I had a botched deviated septum surgery by a different doctor in 2007 which left me with a nose that was twisting and collapsing. I did a lot of research and saw multiple doctors for consultation before choosing Dr. Fernau. He treated me the way you would take care of a member of your own family. He was so kind, caring and reassuring about what needed to be done. He is very accomplished and knowledgeable. Dr. Fernau had to rebuild my nose from scratch. I have had 4 surgeries and now I’m undergoing PRP to thicken the skin on my nose. Dr. Fernau told me that he wouldn’t stop until my nose was perfect. He has continued to keep his word. I am a complicated case and have had a few setbacks along the way. Other doctors would have abandoned me or never even attempted to help me, but not Dr. Fernau. Today will be my first appointment since the COVID restrictions were lifted. I’m looking forward to getting back on track and I know that I have a doctor that will see this through to completion. I have done extensive research over the last two years and finally narrowed my search down to 3 doctors to consult and scheduled Dr. Fernau first... Needless to say I cancelled the other 2 consults on the spot!!! I fell in love with his amazing down to earth personality... He makes you feel you beautiful just the way you are and most important his strong confidence made me feel secure, safe, and excited to move forward ( btw I've read a few other reviews that referred to him as arrogant.. he is NOT arrogant at all!!! it's called CONFIDENCE people!!! that's what you should expect and require when selecting a surgeon) his experience, training, results, and track record speaks for itself. I have been coming to Dr Fernau for years for injectables. I have had such a positive experience, as well as really wonderful results! The staff are very friendly and will put you at ease (Shelia, Cynthia, Alana come to mind, but all have been great). I'm soon to be 53 and genetics were not on my side! I just finished day seven of my post-surgery checkup with Dr Fernau, and here’s my personal experience. Upon arrival of my consultation, I was greeted by the friendliest staff. Every one of them helped in my progression, aided in my treatments, calmed my anxiety, and exceeded my expectations. Scheduling surgery and getting the medications for the operation were straightforward. As for the surgery, the instructions were clear, the procedure explained, and questions answered. The results were beyond what I expected. Dr Fernau is exceptionally passionate about his work and cares for his patients. My nose without any bad angles - I have always had breathing problems. It wasn't something only I noticed - even school classmates commented. When I turned 30, I figured I still hopefully have 60 years of breathing left to do, so it is time to do something about it. I interviewed every doc in town and landed on Dr. Fernau because:1) He is double boarded as both an ENT and as a plastic surgeon 2) His before/afters appealed to my aesthetic the most3) He said during the consultation that his daughter had the same bumps on the side of her nose and I thought maybe he'll see a bit of his daughter on the table that day.In the end >2 years later, I am incredibly happy with my results both from a cosmetic and functional aspect. I can breathe now. I sleep with my mouth closed and my constantly bleeding/chapped lips are better. Getting sick is a breeze because I can actually blow the mucous out of my nose instead of every cold turning into a raging sinus infection. I am very happy with the appearance- it is still "my nose" but I just don't have any bad angles anymore. Throughout the entire experience with Dr. Fernau, I was treated with respect, kind consideration, and was never rushed out of just one more question with every member of his team. Two years ago the office scheduling practices were a mess, but I knew when I got back there, I would be the #1 priority so it was worthwhile. Subglandular Sientra 355 cc smooth round mod+ gummy bear implants with GalaFORM mesh dissolvable scaffolding - 5 days until my surgery! My first consultation was in December of 2018 and we decided on subglandular gummy bear implants in order to achieve optimum lift. The implants won't be seen because I had a good "pinch test" and since they're gummy bear, there won't be any implant "rippling.' The exact size and profile is TBD because he will be using sizers on me during my surgery. Thinking somewhere between 350-415 ccs and moderate to moderate plus profile. More

Phenomenal experience - From the first consultation, Dr. Fernau and his staff were beyond welcoming and helpful. He made me feel like I was his only patient. He seemed genuinely excited about my procedure and getting me the results that I wanted. He's a perfectionist and won't settle for less than perfect results. He travels around the world attending conferences related to his trade. He has his finger on the pulse of the latest technologies. I lost about 100 pounds 2 years ago and my breasts were loose bags of skin and tissue. He performed a breast lift and augmentation using the PAM technique. I will updated when I'm further along post op. Updated on 29 Aug 2018: Feeling way better today than I was last night. Bruising pretty bad but pain is bearable.. uncomfortable more than painful. Took my Percocet and Valium this morning and only my ibuprofen since then, and seem to be getting by ok with just the ibuprofen now. Updated on 31 Aug 2018: Swelling and bruising is improving. I'm getting around pretty good now. Some slight stinging here and there but no pain meds needed. Continuing to take my antibiotics. Very happy with my results so far and anxious for the swelling and bruising to be completely gone. I know I've got a ways to go though ;) Updated on 4 Sep 2018: Making progress on the swelling. Slowly, but expected. Pain free other than a shooting stinging feeling every now and then. I'm guessing it's nerve pain. Hoping these next few weeks of recovery fly by. Updated on 2 Oct 2018: Been a while, thought I'd post an update. My swelling has gone down and I'm thrilled with my results so far. Bumps are starting to smooth out and look way better. I don't feel any internal stitches now. Still some darkness on the skin but I'm assuming that will go away with more time. Looking at before and afters now, I can't believe I didn't get this done sooner. Updated on 2 Nov 2018: I'm a little over 2 months post op now and feel great. I'm happy with my results and feel completely back to normal again. I've resumed intercourse with my husband and there's no issues now. The first couple times were a little tough, the skin felt too tight so we took it slow.. but after about the 3rd time everything has been great since, even better than before surgery. Updated on 5 Dec 2018: Still seeing some minor changes but feel like I'm pretty close to what my final look will be. Very happy with the results and cannot believe I went through so many years of shame. I should've had this surgery years ago. Updated on 21 Feb 2020: Not as happy with my results as I was my last update. It seems after the tissue completely relaxed that it has increasingly gotten larger again. And the appearance is more bumpy now and less smooth. It also seems like my tissue is kind of dog eared near my clitoris on the left side. I dont understand what caused it to change so much but overall I'm still happier than i was before surgery. Im just not completely satisfied like i was the last time. Omgggggg!!!! I was SUPER hesitant about getting any sort of injections in my lip because of my previous experience done by another Physician. My first time having this done was not the greatest. I had a lot of discomfort, and my upper lip was turned up like a duck. THIS time there was no pain, no duck lip, they are fuller, they don’t look like TOO much. They look freaking PERFECT!!!!! I am 24 years old and I have always had difficulty breathing due to a trauma that occurred when I was a child. Not only did I have trouble breathing, I was very self-conscious because of the appearance of my nose due to the trauma. I began researching for doctors and came across Dr. Fernau in Pittsburgh, PA. I decided to book a consultation with him because of all the excellent reviews I read and his continued education. During my consultation Dr. Fernau was very personable, intelligent and took his time explaining to me my condition and his plan to correct my deviated septum and to improve the appearance of my nose. Sheila and Sharon helped me get the exact date I wanted even though his schedule was very busy. (Because he is AWESOME.) After week one I was able to get my internal splints out and I could breathe better than I ever had in my life, and I was brought to tears. Incredible Surgeon! - My experience with Dr. Fernau and his staff was absolutely incredible. I had Pyloric Stenosis as an infant, which years later has resulted as deeply puckered scars throughout my abdomen. Dr. Fernau suggested hydrasolve liposuction and my results have been life-changing. 19 y/o Septo-rhinoplasty - Ever since I can remember, I've never been able to breathe through my nose. Eventually I found out that I had a deviated septum and figured now while I'm young (19, f), now would be a good time to get a septoplasty and also fix a bump that I've always been self conscious of on my bridge. The second Dr.Fernau saw my nose he could tell me that my nose had been broken at one point in my life, mind you that I've been to numerous ENT specialists and other plastic surgeons that never mentioned that. He assured me that after the septo-rhinoplasty that I'd be able to breathe completely after the surgery and I scheduled the surgery a few days later. The office staff was always accommodating to my needs and questions as the surgery got closer (helping me plan my appointments well in advance around my weird work schedule, squeezing me in when needed) and were always friendly. Dr.Fernau made me feel so comfortable and prepared before the surgery with all of the pre-operative measures he takes with a vitamin regime, ointments and soaps using for the last three days before surgery. You always knew that he knew what he was doing and was doing it for your best interest. The day of surgery I was so nervous! He came back before surgery and met my family and assured them (and me again) that I'd be ecstatic with the outcome. 5 hours later I woke up and my boyfriend told me that he said my nose fracture was so bad that a piece of bone actually chipped away. He said before surgery he couldn't get a syringe up my one nostril and after he could fit his fingers up there so I will now be able to breathe. My surgery was July 20th so my first post-op appointment was four days later to get my internal splints out. I went into the appointment feeling weak, tired and not like myself. With black eyes and a swollen face, how can anyone feel good? As soon as he came in he could sense that and in a matter of minutes he had me laughing. He has a wonderful bedside manner. I'm not gonna candy coat it, the splint removal was HORRIBLE. I thought my brain was gonna come out with them. More
I now look like nature intended! - Pittsburgh, PA - I'm a 48 year-old woman in good shape - but I had saddlebags from hell. They looked like they didn't belong on my body and were a source of embarrassment. I could never get rid of them with diet and exercise, and even with clothes on it was noticeable. 48 Year Old Wanting to Look Good in Tops my Whole Life - Dr Fernau and his staff were so wonderful. I had 3 prior consults and they couldn't compare to my consult with Dr Fernau. He is very intelligent and stresses patient safety and I felt immediately comfortable with the entire processs. They have state of the art 3 dimensional imaging to help choose the size and style of the implant. My consult was over an hour and I never felt rushed. I chose a 355 Sientra gummy bear implants and my results are perfect. I never took a pain pill after surgery. I was out of my garment in one week. No external sutures. They laser (free of charge) a 3 cm scar to make it disappear. The scars are in my natural breast crease and as I understand it Dr Fernau uses a Keller funnel to keep the scars so small. I have had 2 laser treatments and i cannot see the scars. Dr Fernau is a great surgeon because of his attention to detail. And he truley cares! More

22 Years Old, Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure - Best Experience Ever! - Pittsburgh, PA - I am 22 years old, and my husband and myself had been shopping for the right doctor to perform my Brazilian Butt Lift. We had been to every office in Pittsburgh, and saved Dr. Fernau's office last, because I was highly impressed with his previous work in Brazil. His consult was so outstanding, that we scheduled my surgery before leaving his office. The technology he used during his consult was the best I had seen, not to mention I could really tell that he was passionate about his work. He referred to what he did as "art" instead of surgery. The fact that the doctor himself was there to answer all my question really impressed me, since all of my other consult's were with an LPN or a doctor's consult manager. He is one of the only doctor's who has the advanced technology of the HydroSolve, that he used to take out the fat in my abdominal and hip rolls and place into my buttocks. AMAZING Doctor, Great Results for SeptoRhinoplasty - I am 24 years old and I have always had difficulty breathing due to a trauma that occurred when I was a child. Voluma - Pittsburgh, PA - I had an opportunity to receive a party price for a mini face life using Voluma. Dr. Fernau and his certified nurse Sheila (certified in facial fillers) injected Voluma in my cheek region that instantly gave me cheekbones and lifted my lower jowl area reducing some fine wrinkles in my lower face. I cannot wait to get additional injections that will complete my "liquid face lift" I think I actually got extra just because Dr. Fernau wanted me to look better and WOW it was instantly noticeable by my friend who I met afterwards. As an added bonus, one of the staff members gave me a makeup touch up with a really neat line of cosmetics, Younique , that added to my fabulous look. 52yo Looks 102 Yo - Pittsburgh, PA - I have had 2 micro needling followed by PRP (platelet rich plasma) application by Cindy Scozio at Accent on Body , the office of Dr. James Fernau, and I cannot believe my results. Cindy took extra time explaining the science behind the procedure and recommended a skin care regime that has left my skin soooooo amazing . I have scheduled another needling but continue to use the skin care and my skin has never looked so healthy. I cannot recommend Cindy enough and the results of a series of the needling. Excellent is not enough For Dr James, he deserves more. One and a half year ago I have had Lower lid surgery Blepharoplasty, under a surgeon who rewind my lower lids by taking extra skin, the eyelid is turned outward away from the eyeball. I suffered doing 3 unsuccessful correction surgeries before I get to know Dr James. When I decided to go for the 4th surgery through Dr Fernau I did not have the hope that he will be able to give me the normal look I dream of. My conclusion after the procedure he made to me, I can not describe the happiness I am in whenever I look at the mirror. This is enough to say He is marvelous .
